What is an ADL assessment? ADL stands for Activities of Daily Living, which are the everyday tasks to take care of yourself and maintain independence. For example, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting and moving around. ADLs are typically conducted by an occupational therapist who aim to identify areas where you may need support and provide recommendations to aid your recovery. An ADL assessment evaluates your ability to perform these everyday activities and identifies areas where support might be helpful.

your support team create a recovery plan tailored to your specific needs. What should I expect during an ADL assessment? An ADL assessment is conducted by an occupational therapist. The occupational therapist will visit your home and perform an assessment to evaluate your needs for your daily routine and how it is affected by your injury. The whole process can take up to two hours. The occupational therapist will then recommend helpful tools or modifications to aid your recovery process based on the assessment.
